VOLCOM PBRJ EUROPE STOP#6 GERMANY

vor 12 Jahren

We arrived on Saturday morning at the Heubach lift, it was so cold that everybody was paralyzed.
It was about -25 degrees and we couldn’t imagine that there would be some riders motivated to shred in the Antarctic of the Thüringen forest.
The shaper crew and Andi, who is in charge of the snowpark, did a great job: not only our setup, which consisted of a box combo, a downrail and a rainbow rail was awesome, but also the rest of the park was sick. On a 100 m slope are 4 tables with rails, boxes and all kind of jibs, followed by 2 tables with kickers and finally a huge wallride.

So if you have some spare time in the East of Germany, you should go to Heubach Park and you will be stoked about the park setup and the incredible hospitality of the locals.

During the registration we had to drink tea and gluwine because it was so cold that our thermonite clothing was just warm enough to keep us alive. Step by step the riders showed up for registration but every two sentence we heard from the people was: Oh sh..t, it’s so fu…ng cold!

The contest started at noon, and it was good to see some familiar faces who just came there for shredding the PBRJ tour stop Heubach and having fun, no matter about the temperature.
There were locals, the Schwaben gang and also a few spectators who tried their best to keep the PBRJ ship running. We saw all kinds of presses, slides and gaps you can imagine. And it was great to see such a highly motivated competitor field.

In the category 16+ Joggel from the Schwaben crew dominated the scene with some hard way fs 180, switch bs one off on the downrail, as well as Axel with the crazy overall outfit, who did front blunts on the rainbow rail. At least for the time of their heat the riders forgot the ice age conditions and kept warm during the jam sessions.

Afterwards, the open division riders destroyed the setup with their tricks.
We saw well known riders like Michael Mayr and Chris Böhnke shredding hard with tricks like bs 270 into the downrail, nollie bs one sw fs 3 out and all kind of stuff like that. Finally Chris dominated the field and won the open division. With a huge smile and 200€ cash in his pocket he went back home with some great souvenirs from the PBRJ stop.

Altogether it was another great stop with new acquaintances and a lot of fun. Big THANKS to the whole Heubach crew and all those I forgot, who supported us in every situation.

And fore sure all this would not be possible without the best crew on the seven seas: Holger Mertn (head judge), Alex Pfeffer and Simpert Hafenmeier (media team), Martin Herrmann (chief of the galley), Felix Pfleiderer (controlling) and Jens Hennefarth (background boss).

Big Ups as well to our friends from the industry: ELECTRIC, NITRO and GO-SHRED.COM.

Results:

15-:

1.Tjark Fritsch

16+

1.Joggel Mangold 2.Martin Simon 3.Toni Kurschat 4.Helge Hegenbard
5.Sebatsian Heiland

Open

1.Chris Böhnke
2.Michael Mayer
3.Eric Orwat
4.Henning Rabe
5.Philip Kirsch

Electric gooyest move of the day: Chris Böhnke
