Kesonsuo on lintuharrastajan aarreaitta, jossa on tavattu muun muassa arosuohaukka, suokukko, mustakurkku-uikku, suopöllö kuin punajalkaviklokin. Tämä linnustollisesti arvokas suoalue oli vaarassa vielä 1970-luvun alussa, mutta vuonna 1976 alueelta suojeltiin ensimmäiset 1400 hehtaaria. Matka Kesonsuolle on elämys itsessään, sillä tie Kirvesvaaran ja Hakovaaran halki kulkee kauniissa maalaismaisemissa. Lintutornille vie noin kilometrin pituinen patikkareitti, josta suurin osa kuljetaan pitkospuilla. Koska pitkokset ovat yleensä veden peitossa, ovat saappaat hyvä varuste. Mukaan kannattaa ottaa myös kiikarit ja aikaa, sillä suon kauneus avautuu parhaiten rauhallisesti tarkkaillen. Lintutornista avautuu näkymä, jossa vetiset kuljut ja rahkasammalpeitteiset kermit piirtävät suohon kauniita raitoja.
Follow the path starting from the guide board. About half of the trail is on duckboards. The route culminates at the bird tower. Return the same route back from the bird tower.

You can get to the bird tower with normal shoes, although in rainy weeks the duckboards may be a little under water.

Follow the direction of the "Kesonsuo" sign from Kurenharjuntie 11 (Ilomantsi). Kurenharjuntie can be reached from the Ilomantsi-Eno regional road at the Hakovaarantie intersection, about 17 km from Ilomantsi. Go to the end of the Hakovaarantie (about 6.7 km), from where the road branches off to the left to Kurenharjuntie, along which about 1 km, from where the signposts in the direction of Kesonsuo (turn right here). It is about 1.3 km from crossroad to the Kesonsuo parking lot.
It is about 1.2 km from the parking area along nature trail to the Kesonsuo bird tower.
No public transport
At the end of the forest road. Parking space for about 10 cars.
During rainy weeks, duckboards leading to the bird tower may be slightly under water.
It is recommended to be prepared with rubber boots.
